Tim Cook and his team unveiled a slew of upgrades to iOS 16, download iOS 16 wallpaper including, of course, updates for iPadOS, during the opening media presentation at WWDC 2022. Lock Screen widgets and customizability are among the significant upgrades, which have never been seen before in the jailbreak community. In addition, the first beta includes a new official iOS 16 wallpaper.

Most notably, a new Depth effect displays visuals in relation to time, placing the time beneath the image’s most prominent center. This, like many of the other Lock Screen upgrades, is being directly carried over from watchOS. The typeface and color of the time can also be changed. There’s also a new wallpaper collection, which makes me think of watchOS.

Widgets will soon be available on your Lock Screen, including options like Calendar, Fitness, and Weather, as well as third-party developer options in the future.

Notifications will be changed as well, allowing your customized Lock Screen to flourish. They usually stay at the bottom of the screen until they are activated.

As we play with the betas, we’ll learn a lot about the new Lock Screen and wallpaper process. There are still a few unanswered questions, such as if you can set the image via Shortcuts using iCloud Files folder storage locations, or whether all of your wallpapers must be stored in a Photos album?! I sincerely hope not.

Before you go ahead and download iOS 16 wallpaper, there’s something fascinating we discovered while delving into the iOS 16 source code. Live Wallpapers had static versions and a short movie for the animated version, whereas iPhone wallpapers were generally just static photos. Things have changed a little bit with iOS 16.

The wallpapers are no longer static images due to the redesigned lock screen, which contains animations and visuals that interact with the clock and widgets. They are instead rendered in real-time. Another thing to remember is that Apple has eliminated almost all of the old wallpapers, even those featured in device-specific marketing graphics.
